Amos was my supervisor at the University of Botswana - “I worked at the University of Botswana (UB) as Project Manager (2001-2002) on the USAID/UB Education Democracy and Development Initiative Project alongside Dr. Uys. The project had a large component in Instructional Technology, including e-learning. We developed smart classrooms and instructional Support Centres, designed and implemented a Videoconferencing Network to link the three campuses with each other and overseas, developed training plans/modules for staff training in multi-media and e-learning and supported the transformation of the library into a learning resource centre. In addition Dr Uys was chairman of the e-learning Team which had responsibility for implementing e-learning strategies to the entire University Campus.
Dr Uys worked as Deputy Director of the Centre for Academic Learning and Co-Team Leader for the Instructional Technology Component. He was the driving force behind the success of the component and demonstrated a high level of responsibility and competence in his work. He has high standards for himself and this was evident in the efficient manner in which he executed his work. Philip and the Team visited several cutting –edge US educational Institutions, worked closely with several US instructional /educational Technology and IT consultants, and successfully implemented best practice at the University of Botswana.
Philip is an expert in the strategic implementation and management of eLearning. He has experience in project management of institution wide e-learning projects and has a solid grasp of the ICT component as well as the pedagogies and didactics of online learning.
We have high regard for Philip’s integrity, attention to detail, strength of character and morality. In addition Philip has a strong sense of family and has managed to strike a balance between his heavy work schedule and family responsibilities.
